Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
SheetEngine ("we", "us") is an AI add-on for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™ operated by the SheetEngine team. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do with your data. Our product is designed around zero content retention — the less of your data we hold, the better for both of us.
1. What we collect today (pre-launch)
While SheetEngine is in pre-launch, the only personal data we collect through this website is:
- Waitlist email address — the address you submit to join the waitlist, plus a timestamp and the page you signed up from. We use it solely to contact you about SheetEngine early access, launch, and product updates. You can unsubscribe or request deletion at any time by emailing us.
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages; Cloudflare may process standard server logs (IP address, user agent) to deliver the site. We do not run advertising trackers.
2. Google user data (when the add-on launches)
When you install the SheetEngine add-on and grant it access via Google sign-in, we request the following OAuth scopes — the minimum required for each feature:
| Scope | Why we need it |
|---|---|
spreadsheets | To read input ranges you select for AI jobs, and to write job results back into your spreadsheet — including after you close the tab. |
documents | To apply AI edits you request in Google Docs and to generate formatted documents. |
drive.file | To create new Docs/PDF files you explicitly generate (e.g., merge-generate). This scope only covers files created by or opened with SheetEngine — we cannot see the rest of your Drive. |
userinfo.email | To identify your account for sign-in, job ownership, and billing. |
3. How we handle your content
- Pass-through processing. Cell and document content you submit to an AI job is sent to the model provider you choose (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or via OpenRouter) to generate results, then written back to your file.
- Zero content retention. We do not store your spreadsheet or document content on our servers beyond the transient processing of a job. We retain only content hashes (one-way fingerprints used for caching and duplicate-billing protection) and job metadata (row counts, model used, cost, timing, error logs).
- No training. We do not train AI models on your data, and we configure model providers with data-retention opt-outs where offered.
- No humans reading your data. No human at SheetEngine reads your content except if you explicitly share it with support for debugging.
- No selling, no ads. We never sell personal data or use it for advertising.
4. Google API Limited Use disclosure
SheetEngine's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Subprocessors
We use a small set of infrastructure providers to run the service: Cloudflare (hosting/CDN), Google Cloud (job processing), the AI model providers you select per task (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter), Stripe (payments — we never see your card number), and our workflow tooling for waitlist management. Each receives only the minimum data needed for its function.
6. Retention & deletion
- Waitlist emails: kept until launch communications conclude or you request deletion.
- Account and billing records: kept while your account is active and as required for tax/accounting law.
- Job metadata and content hashes: kept up to 12 months for billing transparency and cache function, then deleted.
- Your content: not retained (see Section 3).
To request access to or deletion of your data, email us — we respond within 30 days. Revoking SheetEngine's access is instant via your Google Account permissions page.
7. Security
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Credentials and API keys are stored encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is restricted and logged.
8. Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes affecting Google user data will be announced to registered users by email before they take effect.
